Penned & Pressed exists because I've been the person with the lyrics and no way to turn them into a finished song.
I'm one half of Smith & Hazzard (www.smithandhazzard.com), where my writing partner and I produce our own music using modern tools, AI included, and we're upfront about exactly what that means for every release. That project is what led to this one: AI is a genuinely useful instrument in a producer's hands — it doesn't replace the production, the taste, or the editing, but it changes what's possible when you don't have a studio full of musicians on call. And whoever's paying for a song to be made deserves to know exactly how it was actually made, not a vague gesture at either "our team" or "AI-generated."
So that's what Penned & Pressed is: your lyrics, turned into a real, produced song — with an honest account, every time, of what the AI did and what we did by hand. You don't need to play an instrument or know a producer. You just need the words. We handle the rest, and we'll tell you exactly how.
[A short founder note on why this started, once written up.]
We register and release every track ourselves — that means taking on the rights administration, the distributor relationships, and the ongoing responsibility of being the one worldwide platforms answer to for that release. It's why we keep ownership of the finished recordings we produce, the same way a record label does for the music it puts out: your words are always yours, and we take on the work and the risk of putting the finished song in front of the world.
